Boys and Girls (2000) from Johnny Web (Uncle Scoopy; Greg Wroblewski) |
If you have seen The Player, Robert Altman's caustic view of the movie business, you probably remember that the funniest running gag was the concepts that people kept pitching to Tim Robbins, all of which were retreads and or remixes of successful existing pictures. |
"You
know, kind of a Terminator 2 meets My Dinner with
Andre". Well, this movie is one of those marketing oriented pitches. It's "When Harry Met Sally meets Dumb and Dumber". |

Claire Forlani and Freddie Prinze play college students who have known each other for years. They have remained best friends through thick and thin and bad relationships for both of them, but they have always stayed just friends. | |||
|
So the point of the
movie is - will they ever sleep together, and what effect
will that have on their friendship? Completely dull movie. Jason Biggs was funny as the requisite kooky leading man's best friend. I guess he's this generation's Curtis Armstrong, but they really didn't give him enough to do. No nudity, no features on the DVD. Fairly cute stars, inoffensive, a satisfying happy ending, but a waste of time, and completely derivative. |
