10. Charlize Theron & Penélope Cruz in
"Head in the Clouds"
I'm going to chalk the fact that this came in at #10 to pure star power and name recognition. Why?
Because the lesbian scenes aren't that hot, the movie only took in about 4 dollars at the box office, and I'm quite sure this wasn't a 'guaranteed to be there' title with hundreds of copies waiting for you at your local Video Shanty.
Both Scoop and Tuna warned readers to stay away (unless looking for a cure for insomnia). However they did praise Theron's performance.
As for the lesbian stuff...quite tame.

9. Susie Porter and Kelly McGillis in
"The Monkey's Mask"
Take your classic lo-rent Private Detective story, then add the twist that the lo-rent PI is a dame. Of course the PI ends up trusting the dame that she should probably be investigating. Naturally the PI dame ends up sleeping with the other dame. Probably on a cold night in a cold town. The kind of cold that blah, blah, blah...insert your PI movie clichés here.
Monkey's Mask basically breaks down like this...good acting, good production values, plenty of very good lesbian sex, bad mystery, and lots of bad poetry. Susie Porter is very good in the lead, and former "Top Gun" babe McGillis looked pretty darn good nekkid (even at age 43). Our recommendation: rent it, but watch it with your thumb on the fast forward button.

8. Juliette Binoche & Lena Olin in
"The Unbearable Lightness of Being"
Depending on your tastes, you'll either regard this movie as a masterpiece, or a pretentious art flick.
Regardless of what side you align with, it's a beautifully crafted and skillfully acted movie.
Olin and Binoche were so perfectly cast that they turn out a great lesbian scene without ever actually having any lesbian sex! While taking pictures of each other and slowly stripping away a few layers of clothing at a time, they tease each other (as well as the viewer) and build a tremendous sexual tension that is never released. Trés sexy.

7. Sarah Michelle Gellar & Selma Blair in
"Cruel Intentions"
Lesbian Buffy -'nuff said!
Here's a classic example of a single scene overshadowing the rest of the movie. "Cruel Intentions" was a hipster (and otherwise forgettable) version of the classic 'Dangerous Liaisons' story. However the producers and director did get one thing right, they filled the screen with two beautful women making out with tongue!
Let me tell ya, this was a helluva thing to see in the theater!

6. Susan Sarandon and Catherine Deneuve in
"The Hunger"
"The Hunger" is a very stylish movie, but also a terribly boring one.
However, for lovers of celebrity nudity and film erotica, the film does have one thing going for it....a sex scene between possibly the two most famous women ever to do a lesbian scene together: Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon.
The scene is very artistic, but quite tame. Thankfully it compensates by featuring clear toplessness from Sarandon.

5. Jessica Paré and Piper Perabo in
"Lost and Delirious"
Much like "Monkey's Mask," this is another example of a movie with great production values and solid acting but a plot that many people just won't find believable.
However, Paré and Perabo look fabulous and get it on...so thumbs up!

4. Elizabeth Mitchell and Angelina Jolie in
"Gia"
Typical HBO quality plus two hot women gettin' it on. What more could you ask for?
As a biopic, it's pretty much a straightforward recitation of the highlights of the life of new wave superdupermodel Gia Carangi. While it lacked any real 'hook', Carangi was a unusual star and lived an interesting and tragically short life.
Even though it was made for cable, "Gia" was a pretty big step toward fame and fortune for Jolie. Her performance was charismatic and daring as a woman who exposed her body as well as her emotions in front of the camera.

3. Helen Shaver and Patricia Charbonneau in
"Desert Hearts"
In the words of our resident movie reviewer Tuna..."It is the best lesbian film ever made, and has one of, if not the, hottest love scenes every filmed".
Regardless of whether you watch it for the story or the goodies, this a highly respected movie in the gay/lesbian genre and features some lovely nudity and excellent chemistry between the leading ladies.

2. Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon in
"Bound"
Unlike the two pieces of pig crap that were the "Matrix" sequels, this early effort by the Wachowski Brothers is actually a great little film.
The script, performances and direction all work together wonderfully and manage to create tension, humor and mystery among the
three leads despite the fact that all of the movie basically takes place in one apartment.
Tilly and Gershon only show minimal nudity, but their scenes together are sensuous and incredibly sexy.

1. Anne Heche and Joan Chen in
"Wild Side"
Our big winner is from a movie that features a deranged script, over the top performances from Steven Bauer and Christopher Walken, and equally deranged directing techniques.
"Wild Side" is truly an unusual and oddly fascinating movie. It has an unrestrained, uncontrolled lunacy that won't let you turn it off. Not even when the voice inside your head says "This is crap.
Stop watching".
Despite the lunacy, Heche somehow managed to do a pretty good job with her role. And the sex scene with Chen? Tremendous! She had us convinced we were watching real sex!
