"Boogie Nights"
In 1997, one movie launched the career of a very talented director, gave us one of the best comebacks in movie history and turned at least 5 actors into huge A-list stars.
Julianne Moore was already a successful A-ish-list actress before "Boogie Nights", but I doubt most people could name more than 1 or 2 of her 20+ prior films. However, after her fantastic performance as the very messed-up but loving mother figure in "Boogie Nights", she is now one of the top leading ladies in Hollywood.
Moore's sex scene with Marky Mark takes place on the set of a porn they are filming. This is a great scene that highlights Moore's ability to show the complex nature of character. In just a few minutes of screen time, you see Moore portray a woman who is sexy, an adult film pro and yet also very genuine and nurturing with Dirk Diggler for his first time on camera.

19. Demi Moore and Rob Lowe in
"About Last Night..."
"About Last Night..." is the 1986 film adaptation of David Mamet's one act play called "Sexual Perversity in Chicago". It's essentially a by-the-book romantic comedy, but with bonus points for writing, directing and performances.
Demi (version 1.0) was just about perfect in this role. When you combine her youth, beautiful face, raspy voice and her original bod with several sex scenes, what you end up with is one of the better films in the Romantic Comedy genre.

18. Maria Schneider and Marlon Brando in
"Last Tango in Paris"
Some call it a masterpiece, some regard it as pretentious arty crap, still others call it porn.
Regardless of what you think of this 1972 film by Bernardo Bertolucci, there are a few things that most people agree on. 1. Marlon Brando's performance is not only of his best, but possibly one of the best by any actor. 2. There are a lot of sex scenes including the famous and controversial scene with Brando buttering up Schneider's bum before going in through the back door.
If you are curious about seeing "...Tango..." just for the sex scenes, we warn you that (a) they aren't all that explicit by today's standards and (b) they are arty and sad and sometimes brutal, and not really arousing at all.

17. Rebecca DeMornay and Tom Cruise in
"Risky Business"
In 1983 at the age of 21 Tom Cruise became famous. Scratch that, he became mega-famous...and he never looked back.
Along with Better off Dead, Revenge of the Nerds, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Risky Business is one of the best of the school's-out youth-oriented risque comedy-fantasies that were popular two decades ago. It was also huge hit at the box office and a movie that has left a permanent impression on pop culture and film. Seriously...who hasn't lip-synched Bob Seeger while dancing in their socks and undies?
In one of her first movies, Rebecca DeMornay looked spectacular. Their sex scene was not highly explicit, but was super-charged with passion, and all of her naughty bits appeared sooner or later, albeit briefly. Her bottom half was stark naked, front to the camera, with the wind blowing the curtains and her open dress about them. The camera simply drank her in, acting as our eyes. A very memorable erotic moment in film history, in our opinion, one helluva sexy one to watch.

"Color of Night"
I think Uncle Scoopy summed it up best in his review when he said "The Color of Night is The Weekly World News of movies." Yup, it's one of those movies that is just so ludicrous and unbelievable that it becomes entertaining!
Clichés, illogical plot and silly ending aside, there is one thing that keeps this movie on our favorites list...lots and lots o' nudity. In fact some critics have written that there is an excessive amount nudity. This is your cue to sigh and slowly shake your head while saying "Silly critics".
March looked absolutely beautiful while showing everything in several, well photographed love scenes with Willis.

14. Beatrice Dalle and Jean-Hugues Anglade in
"37.2 le matin" ("Betty Blue")
This 1986 film was a commercial success in France, but your mileage will vary depending on your ability to watch movies that are heavy on atmosphere and light on content.
On the plus side...Dalle and Anglade both spend much of the film nekkid in both sexual and non-sexual scenes and nudity is extremely beautiful, quite explicit, and magnificently photographed.

13. Antonio Banderas and Angelina Jolie in
"Original Sin"
Every man with a pulse knows Jolie is hot. Therefore any sex scene that she does is automatically worthy of discussion. Fortunately for us, this one is not only worthy, but frickin' great!
Let's look at the recipe. First we have Jolie and Banderas...both very easy on the eyes. Next add a dash of excellent lighting. Then toss in a pinch of good photography that gives us full body views. Finally, let's add the special ingredient...some serious humpin'.
Stills just don't this scene justice. I think the best way to describe this scene to someone who has not watched "Original Sin" is to pose this question....'If you had the chance, how would you get it on with Angelina Jolie?'.

A rarity in modern film making....A remake that is better than the original!
Rather than comparing the two versions, we're here to focus on the single most important thing about this movie...Rene Russo! Hat's off to her! Not only was this her first movie nudity, but she was also 45 and still amazingly hot!
In an extended sex with with Jimmy Bond, they get it on all over the house, knocking over everything in site and working up quite a sweat.

"Don't Look Now"
This scene has been considered one of the best love scenes in a mainstream film by many people since the day it came out. Why is it so popular? Possibly because the love scene may have not been entirely simulated.
Thanks to the miracle of DVD, we can now view perfect stills of Sutherland buried in between Christie's legs, as well as partial views of his package in extremely close proximity to Christie's fun parts.
Is this definitive proof? Not really, but sometimes it's fun to add fuel to the fire.

10. Kathleen Turner and William Hurt in
"Body Heat"
The first time these two get in on is after what may be the hottest, sexiest build-up of sexual tension in film history. On a hot and sweaty evening,
with the wind chimes barely tinkling, Hurt can see Turner through the locked glass door. Hurt grabs a chair from the porch, shatters the door, storms through, and takes her. She is more than willing.
As we've mentioned on several occasions in our reviews, "Body Heat" plays a very important role in modern cinema history. First of all, it single-handedly revived the long dormant "duplicitous woman noir" genre of the 40s and 50s. Second, it has become one of the most imitated films in cinema history as it is essentially the blueprint for every straight-to-vid "erotic thriller".

"Wild Orchid"
If this movie did not have sex and nudity it would completely stink. However, it has sex and nudity! Great sex and nudity! A lot of great sex and nudity! Plus it was beautifully photographed, and the film score is mostly sexy Brazilian music. By far one of Zalman King's very best "erotic entertainments".
At the time, Otis and the Mickster were an item, and that level of intimacy is definitely noticeable when you watch their sex scenes. In fact, this is another case of "the sex may not be fake".

8. Michael Douglas and Jeanne Tripplehorn in
"Basic Instinct"
From the feedback we get, it's safe to say that many of our readers rank this movie pretty high on the list "of all the movies that I like, which one has the best sex scenes". Basic Instinct is certainly a good choice for that list.
While the plot has huge, gapping holes, it's still a lot of fun to watch. Good direction, performances, photography and of course several hot sex scenes.
As you may recall the Tripplehorn/Douglas scene is a tad on the rough side. Douglas rips off her panties, bends her over a chair and just pounds away. No soft n' fuzzy lenses, no sweeping music. Just hard, fast and partially forced sex. Worthy of a spot on this list if only because this type of sex is rarely seen in A-list movies.

Probably even fewer have seen this movie and have also watched enough "Xena" to recognize Hudson Leick. But for those chosen few, here's some nerd talk....The Evil Callisto goes topless and gets her freak on!
For those of you who have lives (unlike yours truly) allow me to translate and filter out the nerdspeak. Hudson Leick is a 5'8", blonde former model turned actress. She looks great topless, and in this small budget movie she got hot and sweaty performing a scene that shows how sex looks when a lot of people do it in real life.
For fans of celebrity nudity...the jiggle and bounce factors alone are worth the rental price.

The only actress to appear twice in our poll takes home the big prize!
As we've mentioned before, "The Lover" is one of the best, most accurate films ever made about forbidden, purely sexual relationships. Plus it's one of the most explicit films that you can watch "as a couple", and find that she enjoys it more than you do.
Jane March was only about 19 when the movie was filmed, and she showed every inch of her lovely, petite body in several wonderful sex scenes.
Is the sex realistic? Actually, we're willing to bet that it was more than acting.
Regardless of whether or not they were really doing it, the sex seems very real and that's part of what makes this such a sensual and erotic film.
In addition, it doesn't hurt that it is without a doubt the best photographed skin flick ever made!
