Uncle Scoopy's Top 20 Nude Scenes of 1998

At the end of every year since 1999, the readers of Uncle Scoopy's Fun House and related sites have chosen their favorite nude scenes from the year that just passed.

This poll marks the first time that the poll has been extended into the past for the years prior to the "live poll" era.

1998 was a very good year for filmed nudity, but it can't easily be compared to recent years. Twenty years ago there were very few worthwhile nude scenes on television, but many in theatrically-released films.

It was a different world.

There were five 1998 scenes that stood out above all others in the voting, followed by a massive drop down to number six. Angelina Jolie took the top spot for her great youthful performance in Gia, but she was closely followed by Reese Witherspoon's unexpected and gorgeous topless scene in Twilight, which in turn was given a strong challenge for the runner-up spot by Rachel Weisz in I Want You. Denise Richards also had many fans for her uninhibited turn in Wild Things, as did Alex Kingston for her gorgeous full-frontal in Croupier.

There were many people in those days who said that young actresses should not do nude scenes because by doing so they kept themselves from being taken seriously. This poll put the lie to that theory. Almost every woman on this list went on to a distinguished acting career, and most of them are still performing today. Some are still doing nude scenes, headed by Thandie Newton, who is still placing high on our lists!
