Overview:
For the 26th consecutive year, the readers of
Uncle Scoopy's Fun House
and related sites have chosen their favorite nude
scenes.
The voting took place in stages.
In stage one,
nominations
were accepted from all readers of Other Crap for a
full month. That list also includes links to sample
images from each nominee.
In stage two,
all
voters were allowed to rank all nominees from top to
bottom, and a seeded list of finalists was created
from the results.
In stage three, voters were asked to name one and only
one of the choices as their selection for the top nude
performance of the year. The numerical results of the
balloting can be found
here.
This year's list produced no runaway winner. None of the
selections could gain even 10% of the votes. The top
nude scenes of the past often garnered 25% or more of
the votes. Jennifer Lawrence pulled 30% last year.
Heather Graham toppled 40% for Boogie Nights. Katie
Holmes set the bar high in 2000 when she topped 50% for
The Gift.
But the fact that there was no dominant winner doesn't
mean that there were no good scenes. It simply means
that no scene had all the components necessary to pull
away from the pack. That requires fame, beauty, daring,
and often a nude debut. Leila George came close, but her
scenes remained uncommitted to the nudity. Mikey
Madison's scenes actually offer much less nudity than
required for the blue ribbon. Margaret Qualley's
incredible scene was tainted by a prosthetic chest.
Katrina Kreile was hampered by obscurity. In short,
nobody had it all.
The scene we wanted does seem to exist, but only as a
video-within-the-film. The film Kind of Kindness shows
the characters watching a home sex video of themselves.
If that grainy video footage had been released as a
stand-alone, uncut, in HD quality, if would have been a
runaway winner as the scene of the year, given
that it shows two exceedingly popular and very naked
actresses (Margaret Qualley and Emma Stone) portraying
uninhibited sex (see it
here, second
video down). Dare we hope for a Blu-Ray extra?
The year did produce a nice variety of surprises.
* It wasn't all about youth. The veterans made a great
showing. Ali Larter is 48. Kate Winslet, at 49, was only
the third-oldest woman on the list. Nicole Kidman is 57,
and Demi Moore is 62.
* Some popular national favorites edged the usual
Hollywood crowd out of a few spots. Thea Sophie Loch
Naess represented Norway, Nataly Rocha gave Brazil a
high finisher, and Sofya Sinitsyna was a strong Russian
entry. UK voters supported Emily Atack, Jodie Comer and
Nafessa Williams.
* There were some double-headers. Margaret Qualley
appeared twice on the list, and Sophia Boutella placed
two different films on the list as a joint entry (she
did nude scenes in both).
* There were two great scenes "off the books." (1) The
new Blu-Ray of Paradise (1982) offered uncut,
unfiltered
footage of Phoebe Cates fully naked. (2) The
ambitious re-cut of Caligula (1979) was assembled
entirely from footage that had never been used before,
including
explicit
nudes of Helen Mirren, the godmother of screen
nudity.
